Alex Klaushofer is a London-based journalist writing on British and Middle Eastern social affairs and politics. Her work has appeared in many papers and magazines including the Guardian, Observer and Telegraph, along with contributions to the BBC.
Following an English degree at St Hugh's College, Oxford, she did a PhD at Essex University on philosophy after the holocaust, and taught in higher and further education for several years. In 1998, she spent a summer as a volunteer English teacher in a West Bank refugee camp, and realised that the Middle East is (probably) the most interesting place in the world. She has been in and out of the region ever since, reporting, story-gathering as Christian Aid's Middle East communications manager and holidaying.
